China: China Releases the Food Safety Standard for Cooked Meat Products

On December 23, 2016, the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC, currently the National Health Commission) and the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA, currently the State Administration of Market Regulation) released the National Food Safety Standard for Cooked Meat Products (GB2726-2016). This standard was implemented on June 23, 2017, and applies to prepackaged cooked meat products except canned meat. The Standard replaces the Hygiene Standard for Cooked Meat Products (GB 2726 - 2005) and its subsequent modification. Please note that the comment process has ended and that this standard is considered final. The following report contains an unofficial translation of the final standard.

Philippines: Grain and Feed Update

FAS Manila revised MY 2022/23 milled rice production downward to 11.975 million MT both because of a 3 percent expected reduction in yields as soaring fertilizer prices result in significantly reduced application and because of the effects of Typhoon Noru (Local name: Karding).

Pakistan: Sugar Semi-annual

The 2022/2023 sugarcane harvested area is slightly reduced due to the impacts of the recent flooding in key production areas. As a result, the 2022/23 cane sugar production forecast is lowered to 7 million tons. Despite the slight decline in output expected, there will still be an exportable surplus, and the 2022/23 export forecast remains 1 million tons.
