Irrigation water limitations in the Guadalquivir basin have nearly halved cotton production in Andalusia, Spain’s main producing region. The lower area planted to cotton in MY 2023/24, along with the extreme summer temperatures and irrigation restrictions, have undermined Spain’s cotton production potential for the second consecutive season.
