Romania: Agricultural Biotechnology Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   RO2023-0010
Romania, a member of the European Union (EU), maintains a balanced view regarding agricultural biotechnology. Although no biotech crops are cultivated in Romania, most farmers view biotechnology as an instrument in managing the agronomic risks and sustaining their competitiveness. Romania permits biotech field trials, but interest is limited to genetically engineered (GE) plum trees. This report provides updated information on the status of biotechnology in Romania and should be read in conjunction with the EU-27 Agricultural Biotechnology Annual report.
