Japan: Preliminary Impact and Situation Post-Earthquake in Japan

This report offers a preliminary agricultural update post-earthquake on the current situation that devasted the Noto Peninsula in the central prefecture of Ishikawa, and Toyama Prefecture on New Year’s Day. The 7.6 magnitude earthquake triggered multiple aftershocks and tsunami alerts, leaving more than 30,000 residents in evacuation shelters. FAS Japan will provide updates as the situation and recovery efforts continue.
