For the past five years Estonian timber industry has shown stable growth. Forests and wood industries’ share of Estonian GDP reached 22 percent in 2014. The felling volume has increased moderately in recent years. 9.8 million cubic meters of wood was felled in 2014 and 9.5 million cubic meters in 2015. Estonian processors focus on new technologies and high value production. The Estonian wood industry is strongly export oriented and Estonia is a net exporter. Export makes up nearly two thirds of sales for the Estonian timber industry. Wood sawn or chipped dominates in the value of products sourced from the United States to Estonia.
