Brazil: Sugar Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Brazil’s MY 2016/17 sugarcane crush is estimated at 680 mmt, a two-percent increase compared to the previous season due to good weather conditions that favored steady development of sugarcane stocks. Approximately 43 percent of the crop will be diverted to sugar, up two percentage points compared to the previous season, the result of expected higher demand for sugar in the international market. Total exports for MY 2016/17 are estimated at 26.1 mmt, raw value, up 1.75 mmt from MY 2015/16 (24.35 mmt).
