Turkey: Oilseeds and Products Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   TU2025-0014
Facing dry growing conditions and slumping cotton prices, Turkish farmers are expected to switch from cotton to produce more sunflowerseeds and other row crops in marketing year (MY) 2025/26. However, even with this anticipated increase in sunflower production, Turkiye will continue to rely on imports of sunflowerseeds, sunflower oil, sunflower meal, soybeans, and soy meal to satisfy its growing domestic requirements. In the case of soybeans, imports are forecast to hit a new record in MY 2025/26, based on the steadily increasing demand from the animal feed sector, especially for poultry and aquaculture feed. The share of Turkiye’s oilseed and vegetable imports that are processed and re-exported to neighboring countries is also expected to keep growing.
