Serbia’s marketing year (MY) 2016/17 wheat crop was the largest in over 20 years at an estimated three million metric tons (MMT), compared to 2.6 million last year. This record crop left 1.5 MMT of wheat available for export. The MY 2017/18 crop is reported to be 12 percent lower than last year or approximately 540,000 hectares (HA) of planted area. For MY 2016/17, corn production reached a record level of 7.6 MMT. That is 25 percent more than the previous MY 2015/16. If corn exports reach 2.8 MMT in MY2016/17, Serbia will once again enter the list of top ten corn exporters in the world.
