Senegal: Exporter Guide

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

For calendar year (CY) 2018, the U.S. exported $11.9 million of food and agricultural products to Senegal. Intermediate products currently represent the largest share of U.S. agricultural exports to Senegal, accounting for 85 percent in CY 2018. According to the World Bank, Senegal is one of the strongest economies in West Africa, with an annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of over 6 percent over the last five years. Although representing a small segment of the total population, a growing middle- to upper-class consumer base is slowly changing its buying habits and food preferences, which is leading to increased demand for high-value imported foods.
