MY 2018/19 (August to July) total area for Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, and Senegal is projected to decrease to 1.67 million hectares (HA) due to the possibility of limited credit and inputs in Burkina Faso and Chad. For MY 2018/19 total cotton production for all the aforementioned countries is estimated to rise 4 percent to 2.86 million metric tons (MMT) on expectations of strong prices, good weather and better pest management. MY 2018/19 total exports are expected to increase 3 percent on higher exportable supplies and strong international demand. This annual report primarily focuses on providing an overview of Burkina Faso; it includes an abridged analysis for Mali, Chad and Senegal.
