Foreign demand remains the main driver for organic production in Romania, though 2015 production was down. Domestic consumption is on an upward trend.
Over the last three years, Romania has seen strong positive growth, with encouraging developments in the economic and policy areas, becoming one of the most attractive markets in Southeastern Europe.
The EU-28 sugar production for food purposes for MY 2016/17 is forecast at 16.5 million MT in raw sugar equivalent (RSE), with another 0.9 million MT produced for industrial purposes.
Oilseed planted area is forecast to surge in Marketing Year (MY) 2016/17.
Planting conditions for wheat and barley were very good in most regions. The current crop status indicates excellent prospects for the winter crops.
