Poland as a member of the European Union applies EU directives and regulations to agricultural imports with only few exceptions.

As of January 4, 2017 there were 23 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Poland.

In 2015 the total fish catch was 170,500 MT, which included the Baltic Sea and long-distance fisheries.

In Latvia another good harvest is expected. In 2016/17 total grain production is forecast to amount to 2.4 million MT. Due to a relatively mild winter grain plantings are assumed well.

It is estimated that in MY 2016/2017 rapeseed planted area amounts to 940,000 hectares, a one percent decline in comparison to the previous year due to unusually dry weather during the planting season

Total production of rapeseed in MY 2016/17 is forecast to decrease by 6 percent to 275,000 MT in comparison to MY 2015/2016.
