Saudi Arabia: FAIRS Country Report

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

In 2015, Saudi Arabia’s regulatory authorities continued to strictly enforce their food import regulations and standards which have affected the flow of some U.S. food exports to the Kingdom. The strict enforcement of import regulations included a ban on the use of unsubstantiated claim of health benefits on food products’ labels; a ban on poultry and egg product exports from several U.S. states that have confirmed cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI); and a continued import ban on U.S. beef imposed in May 2012. The FAIRS Country Report contains an update of Saudi Arabia’s regulatory requirements and Customs clearance procedures for importing food and agricultural products into the Saudi market.
