Russia: Draft SPS Measure on Breeding Cattle Notified to WTO

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

On June 14, 2019, Russia notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) via G/SPS/N/RUS/162 of draft amendments to the unified Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) veterinary certificate for imported breeding and production cattle, removing one of the BSE attestations in the certificate. This report contains an unofficial translation of the notified document. The public comment period for the draft will close on August 16, 2019. Interested U.S. parties are encouraged to share their comments and/or concerns with USDA’s enquiry point (us.spsenquirypoint@fas.usda.gov). For potential inclusion in the U.S. official position, please send your comments by August 5, 2019. Please note that the proposed measure would not affect the bilateral U.S.-Russia veterinary certificate for breeding cattle exported from the United States to the Russian Federation.
