Philippines: Philippine Agriculture Declines in 2016

Philippine agriculture contracted 1.4 percent in 2016, attributed mostly to damage from typhoons Karen and Haima during the 4th quarter. The crops subsector declined 3.3 percent, while the fisheries subsector shrunk 4.2 percent. However, the livestock and poultry subsectors expanded 4.6 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively. On average, overall farmgate prices increased 3.4 percent.
