Philippines: Philippine President Signs the Animal Industry Development and Competitiveness Law
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the Animal Industry Development and Competitiveness Act on September 25, 2025, creating an annual PhP20 billion fund (USD345 million) to boost local livestock, poultry, and dairy production.
The Philippines is the first country in Southeast Asia to issue regulatory frameworks on genetically engineered (GE) crops for cultivation and regulations for plant and plant products derived from the use of plant breeding innovations (PBIs).
