Philippines: Grain and Feed Update

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Post concurs with the official USDA estimates for wheat, corn and rice. MY16/17 wheat and corn imports are expected to increase from the previous year’s level primarily due to strong feed demand by the domestic livestock and poultry industries. Rice imports during the same period, on the other hand, will likely decline as the Philippine government pursues rice self-sufficiency, and local production increases.
