The 2016/2017 New Zealand deciduous fruit production dipped lower than anticipated to 554,940 metric tons, 1.4 percent less than 2015/2016. Export volumes have been affected and estimated to drop by 3 percent to 340,700 metric tons. A material recovery is expected in 2017/2018 with deciduous fruit production up to a forecast 586,000 metric tons and flowing on to a 12 percent export volume jump to 380,150 metric tons.
