Malaysia: Cotton and Products Annual

Post forecasts consumption of cotton in the Malaysian textile industry at just over 66,000 metric tons (MT) in marketing year (MY) 2019/20, a 5 percent increase from the previous year. The expected uptick is based on steady economic growth in Malaysia and strong consumer demand for textile products in the United States and the European Union. Imports in MY 2019/20 are forecast at roughly 150,000 MT, slightly higher than the 147,000 MT imported in the previous year.
