Ethiopia: Ethiopian Pasta Company Tenders for 2000 MT of Foreign Durum Wheat

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

The Dire Dawa Food Complex, located in the eastern side of Ethiopia, recently announced in local newspapers that it was holding an international tender to purchase 2,000 metric tons of durum wheat for pasta production. Possible international suppliers, as noted in the tender announcement, include the United States, Canada, Australia, or other foreign markets capable of meeting the tender specifications. Bids are due by November 6, 2015. This tender likely suggests that the local supply of durum wheat is becoming increasingly tight.
