  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   DR2021-0017

The Dominican Republic (DR) is the fourth-largest market for U.S. products in the Western Hemisphere, valued at $1.82 billion in 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the growth rate of U.S. agricultural and related exports to the Dominican market, especially for consumer-oriented products during 2019 and 2020. The Dominican Republic is walking on the path to recovery. During the first 10 months of 2021 the demand for those products has increased by 36 percent due to the re-opening of the economy.
