China: Revised Draft Cereals Seed Standards Notified

On February 12, 2024, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) notified the National Standard for Seed of Food Crops – Part 1: Cereals (Draft) to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The new draft incorporates quality requirements for genetically modified (GM) corn varieties with herbicide tolerance and insect resistance and modified quality indicators for hybrid rice seeds and conventional corn, wheat, and sorghum seeds. The deadline for submitting public comments on the revised draft is April 12, 2024.
