China: MARA Issues Additional New and Renewed Biosafety Certificates

On April 29, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) announced the issuance of new and renewed biosafety certificates for genetically engineered (GE) events. The announcement includes 11 certificates issued for GE crops approved for import as processing materials and 36 renewed certificates for domestic GE crop cultivation and production. The validity period of the new biosafety certificates is five years.
