Opportunities exist for U.S. agricultural exporters to further develop and modernize the agriculture sector. Algeria is currently the largest country in Africa and in the Arab World with a total landmass of 2.38m sq km. Algeria is rich in natural resources but is still largely unexplored. Despite this, Algeria continues to import about $8 billion in agricultural commodities and food annually. Algeria’s overall strategy is to reduce its reliance on imports.
