South Africa: Oilseeds and Products Annual

In the 2020/21 MY, Post forecasts that South Africa's oilseed meal imports will drop by 8 percent to 550,000 tons and oilseed oil imports will decline by 5 percent to less than 400,000 tons, due to increased local production coupled with limited growth in demand. South Africa's postitive trend in oilseed production the past 10 years is expected to continue in the 2020/21 MY on increased area after a decline in corn plantings. However, South Africa's economic growth is expected to continue to be sluggish in the next few years, due to structural and policy constraints as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
