This report is an overview and update of regulations and standards for importing U.S. food and beverage products to Argentina.
Argentina has reformed its food import and export regulations. The new rules allow food imported from countries with “high sanitary standards”, including the US, to enter with minimal paperwork. Also, exports from Argentina now only need to meet the requirements of destination countries rather than Argentine domestic regulations.
Argentine imports of consumer-oriented food and beverages in 2023 are projected to remain at 2022 levels, due to continuing economic uncertainty, weak consumer spending, and the expectation of another year of high inflation.

On September 21, 2022, Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued administrative decree number 1895 for the year 2022 adopting a regionalization model to the county level for U.S. outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian influenza (HPAI). The decree lifted a previous ban on all non-heat treated poultry meat (fresh, chilled, frozen, and processed), poultry products and table eggs from 24 U.S. states. The decree also includes changes for other trade partners. An unofficial translation for the decree is included in this report.
