This report lists and describes certificates that should accompany food and agricultural products to Israel.

Over the past several years, Saudi Arabia published several new regulations and standards, some of which were notified to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The major export certificates required by Saudi Arabia’s regulatory and import control agencies are included in this Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) - Certificates Report.

Israel amended its Public Health Protection Act (Food) to reduce regulatory burdens on food importation.

Sensory data shows another below average wheat crop in MY2023/24 due to ongoing drought and heat conditions in Algeria’s non-irrigated areas. Post forecasts MY2023/24 wheat imports at 8.7 million metric tons based on increased import demand.

Wheat and barley crops received adequate rainfall. Post forecasts MY 2022/23 wheat and barley production at 1.1 MMT and 420,000 MT, respectively, with imports anticipated at 2.1 MMT and 950,000 MT.

The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) projects domestic wheat production at 700,000 metric tons (MT) in MY 2021/2022, up approximately 17 percent from USDA’s official estimate of 600,000 MT. Experts anticipate local domestic wheat production could reach 1 million metric tons (MMT) in MY 2022/2023 to offset expected import delays from Russia and Ukraine as a result of the ongoing war.

Egypt is closely following the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Certainly Egypt’s grains imports from both countries were affected. Accordingly, FAS Cairo forecasts Egypt’s wheat imports in MY 2022/23 (July – June) at 11 MMT, down by 8.3 percent from MY 2021/22 Post’s import estimate figure of 12 MMT.

Morocco’s food processing sector plays an essential role in the Moroccan economy, accounting for 6 percent of Moroccan GDP and benefits from excellent infrastructure, world-class manufacturing facilities, and convenient access to neighboring African markets.

On October 12, 2021, the United States and Morocco completed a sanitary certificate for exports of U.S. live aquatic animals to Morocco. The completion of this certificate offers new opportunities for U.S. exporters of live aquatic animals intended for farming.
