This is an update of the 2019 report. In 2019, U.S. consumer-oriented products exported to Guatemala reached a record $567 million.
Guatemala’s GDP growth is expected to slow as a result of COVID-19. The agricultural sector’s participation in the national GDP is expected to drop from 13.5 to 9.7%.
On May 26, 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture of Guatemala eliminated the registration requirement for animal feed minerals that contain only one type of biomolecule ingredient.
Regulation for pet food has been included as well as updates on new import e-permits and fees with the Ministry of Agriculture.
This report was updated to reflect certification requirements for pet food, table eggs and egg products.
