There is no commercial production of genetically engineered (GE) crops in Jamaica.
A historic drought in Bolivia is causing water restrictions in households in the capital of La Paz and reducing grain and oilseed production output by 27 percent in 2016.
Jamaica is one of the main tourist destinations in the Caribbean region, with over two million tourist arrivals in 2015. Approximately 1.3 millions of these tourists were from the United States.
Post estimates that Jamaica's production will increase to 140,000 MT in 2016/17. The improved performance will be due mainly to an increase in the number of sugar factories that will be in operation.
