Australia: Fresh Deciduous Fruit Annual

Australia’s table grape production is expected to increase to 210,000 MT in marketing year (MY) 2022/23, from an estimated 180,000 metric tons (MT) in MY 2021/22. This is with the expectation of slightly improved harvest labor availability and better seasonal conditions at harvest. Despite expanded vine plantings in recent years now coming into fruiting, production has been hindered by challenges.

Poland: Stone Fruits Annual Report 2022

In Marketing Year (MY) 2022, FAS Warsaw forecasts Poland’s total cherry production at 261,500 metric tons (MT), consisting of 183,000 MT sour cherries and of 78,500 MT sweet cherries. Post forecasts that the domestic consumption of cherries will increase by 14.4 percent, mostly due to bigger availability of these fruits for the processing industry.

Malaysia was the 25th largest export destination for U.S. agricultural products in 2021 and is a top prospect for exports of food and beverage ingredients because of its large and growing food processing industry. Food and beverages manufactured in Malaysia not only serve domestic consumers but are also exported to many neighboring countries. U.S. exporters of dairy products, fresh and processed potatoes, food-grade soy, processed fruit and juices, tree nuts and more have many opportunities to supply Malaysian industry which depends on imports for key ingredients and inputs, and in doing so will reach consumers across Malaysia and throughout Southeast Asia.

China’s raisin production is forecast to decline by nearly 6 percent on year to 170,000 MT in MY 2022/23 due to a lockdown in Turpan that put raisin processing on hold. The lockdown was enforced on August 10 at the start of the raisin processing season.
