Coffee is Ethiopia’s main export commodity, contributing to the livelihoods of more than 15 million smallholder farmers and other actors in the coffee sector. Ethiopia’s coffee production for MY 2022/23 (Oct-Sep) is forecast at 8.25 million 60-kilogram bags (495,000 MT).

Coffee production in MY 2022/2023 is forecast at 4.03 million 60-kilogram bags, an increase of two percent from the previous year. Peru’s coffee exports in MY 2022/2023 are forecast at 3.95 million 60-kilogram bags, a slight increase from the previous year.

In marketing year 2021/2022 (MY21/22 Oct - Sept) strong demand for imported coffee products is expected to increase imports to 4 million 60-kilogram (KG) bags green been equivalent (GBE), a 5 percent increase over MY20/21 imports.
