The Turkish cotton crop for Marketing Year (MY) 2021/22 is forecast at 450,000 hectares and 825,000 metric tons (MT; 3.79 million bales). Cotton consumption is expected to be 1,850,000 MT (8.50 million bales) for the same MY.
Due to excellent conditions during harvest, which followed a good growing season, seed cotton collection has progressed well, and deliveries to ginners are far out-pacing last year.
Post’s forecast for China’s cotton production is lowered to 4.6 million metric tons (MMT) in MY16/17, based on decline in acreage despite a forecast yield gain in Xinjiang.
The MY 2016 Turkish cotton crop now estimated at 425,000 hectares and 700,000 MT (3.2 million bales); up about 20 percent compared to last crop year.
MY2015/16 seed cotton production in Burkina Faso, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and Chad combined, are expected to drop 10 percent compared to the initial target due to a late start of the rainy season
