From September 26 to 27, 2023, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) National Energy Administration (NEA) organized a meeting on pilot programs for biodiesel promotion and application in Shanghai to learn relevant experience and practices, exchange and analyze the development of the country’s biodiesel industry, and study and deploy next steps.
Demand for ethanol is expected to increase by an average of five percent annually in the near future in order to meet the 10 percent mandated ethanol blend.
With full implementation of a 7 percent blend in 2015, biodiesel production is forecast to reach 537 million liters, up from 359 million liters in 2014.
China is a major producer of biofuels and production continues to increase.
