On August 17, 2021, the European Commission (EC) approved seven genetically engineered (GE) crops (3 corn, 2 soybean, 1 rapeseed, and 1 cotton) and renewed the authorizations for two corn and one rapeseed crop used for food and animal feed.

Bulgarian rapeseed production is forecast to rebound in MY 2021/22. As of mid-July, the rapeseed harvest was 46 percent complete with reported yields exceeding earlier estimates and production projected to reach up to 360,000 MT.
With full implementation of a 7 percent blend in 2015, biodiesel production is forecast to reach 537 million liters, up from 359 million liters in 2014.
MY 2015 sunflower seed area and production are now estimated at 505,000 hectares and 1 MMT, respectively.
The low price of soybeans is expected to push China’s soybean imports to a record 76 million tons in MY14/15, up from the 70.4 million tons in the previous year.
