Post lowers marketing year (MY) 2022/2023 soy production at 20.5 million metric tons (MMT) still below the USDA official on lower than expected harvest area and yields due to drought. Post lowers MY2022/2023 crush to 26 MMT due to decreased exports and the lowest crush operation rates decades during recent months.

Brazil: Oilseeds and Products Update

Post revises down MY 2023/24 soybean production to 158.5 MMT due to poor weather outlooks resulting from El Niño, particularly in the Centre West states, which may affect final yields currently projected at 3.507 kg/ha.
On December 26, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) announced the issuance of 85 seed production and operation licenses, including 26 genetically engineered (GE) corn and soybean seed production and operation licenses.

On April 20, the Government of Serbia (GoS) lifted its prohibition on the export of wheat, corn, flour, and refined sunflower oil. In its place, introduced monthly export quotas. On April 30, the GoS increased export quotas on wheat and wheat flour.
On June 2, 2022, the Government of Morocco suspended customs duties on sunflower, soybean, and rapeseed. This measure will take effect starting June 3, 2022 and continue until further notice. This decision is intended to protect citizens’ purchasing power in the face of rising global prices of various essential goods.
