Major bulk commodities, as a share of total U.S. agricultural exports, have risen and fallen dramatically since 2020. Beyond short-term price volatilities that have largely driven these developments, changes to the largest overseas market and an increasingly competitive landscape also affect the prospect for major U.S. bulk exports.

On September 3, 2021, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry/Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), issued Notification No. 23/2015-2020 pertaining to the “Inclusion of Ports of Import in Continuation to Notification No. 20/2015-20 (August 24, 2021).”

Soybean imports are forecast at 101 million metric tons (MMT) in marketing year (MY) 21/22, up 3 MMT from the previous year.

India’s soybean production estimate for marketing year (MY) 2021/22 (October-September) is lowered to 10.8 million metric tons (MMT) on account of delayed and erratic rainfall.
