FAS Bangkok forecasts an increase in Thailand's rice and corn production in MY 2024/25 due to acreage expansion and average yield improvement.

The outlook for Mexican grain production in marketing year (MY) 2024/2025 is lower for corn, wheat, and sorghum.

On December 23, 2024, the Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) announced the “Comprehensive Upgrade Plan for the Grains Industry”. MOA’s plan calls for raising the guided purchase price for rice (the mid-tier purchase price) by NT$1.5/kg and increase its procurement volume.

In MY 2024/25, the PRC’s grain output is estimated to reach a record 706.5 million metric tons (MMT), a 1.6 percent increase driven by expanded acreage and higher yields.

On November 15, 2021, Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) released a revised 2021 rice production estimate of 3.882 million metric tons (MMT), up an additional 1.6 percentage points from the initial rice production estimate in early September and up 10.7 percent from the previous year.

Post forecasts higher Burma’s rice export in November in anticipation of active demand from China and EU countries during harvest of the new crop.

Rice export prices of most grades of rice increased 1-2 percent.

In 2021, despite advantages offered through the United States-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement (TPA), U.S. rice exports to Colombia have declined to just $5 million through July. The significantly lower exports to this market are a result of a larger Colombian crop and lower domestic prices, plus increased competition from South American exporters.
