After taking a dip in 2022, the EU organic market began to recover in 2023 as consumers’ financial situations improved. France and Germany still have the largest organic markets in the EU and growth is expected in almost every Member State until 2025.
Foreign demand remains the main driver for organic production in Romania, though 2015 production was down. Domestic consumption is on an upward trend.
Austria is one of the leading countries in organic production and consumption. In 2016, about 21 percent of the total agricultural area and 18 percent of all farms were under organic management.
Germany is the second biggest organic market of the world with good prospects for U.S. organic products such as salmon, tree nuts, fruits and vegetables, and processed food products.
