Japan has a well-developed food retail market that demands high-quality, high-value agricultural and food products. Despite reduced economic activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, trade data show that agricultural imports have remained resilient.

The Bulgarian organic market continued to expand in 2022 with an estimated annual growth of 3.2 percent compared to 2021. The main driver behind the growth was the strong consumer focus on a healthier lifestyle and the perception that organic products are healthy and higher quality compared to conventional products.

The Russian government continues to work on legislation for the organics market.

In July 2014, the Russian State Duma Committee announced the start of public comments and expert evaluations of a draft version of National Standard (GOST) “Regulations of Organic Production.”
