On April 2, 2025, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s State Veterinary Office introduced precautionary measures to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease by requiring FMD-free certification for imported live cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats, and establishing disinfection barriers at border crossings.

After the 2023 outbreak of bluetongue disease in Europe, the bluetongue virus (BTV-3) has now spread to three Nordic countries. Denmark encountered the first case of bluetongue disease on August 9, Norway on September 6, and Sweden on September 12.

As of May 15, 2024, Turkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry announced a ban on the importation of live cattle from the United States following confirmed Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) cases in some U.S. lactating dairy cows.

This Act addresses the rules under Article 118 of the EU Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation 2019/6 for the use of certain antimicrobial medicinal products in animals or products of animal origin exported from third countries to the European Union.

On April 14, 2023, the first outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in pigs in Poland in 2023 was announced. It is the first outbreak since September 2022, detected on a small backyard farm in Dolnoslaskie (Lower Silesia) province.

On March 22, 2023, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed a draft Act on Special Arrangements to Improve the Supervision over Animal Health and Protection. The proposed legislation introduces several solutions on the protection, maintenance, treatment, and movement of animals.
