Argentine beef exports in 2025 are forecast to decline to 770,000 metric tons carcass weight equivalent (CWE), primarily due to a projected decrease in beef production and production costs in dollar terms that are higher than those of neighboring competitor countries.

In 2023, Peru was the 28th-largest market for U.S. agricultural exports, valued at $851 million, making it the 3rd-largest market in South America. The U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement (PTPA) entered into force in February 2009, and U.S. agricultural exports reached $1 billion for the first time in 2014, peaking at $1.36 billion in 2018. Post projects Calendar Year (CY) 2024 Argentine chicken meat production at 2.4 million metric tons (MT), up slightly from CY2023 levels. CY2024 exports are projected at 140,000 MT as Argentina recovers from its first Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak.

Due to the severe drought, Post forecasts a slight decrease in dairy output, estimating a decline of just over one percent to 11,441,000 MT in volume by the end of 2023 compared to 2022. Projections for 2024 are complex as several factors could lead to a significant drop in production, particularly during the first half of the year.
