FAS Dar es Salaam expects a ten percent decline in corn exports for marketing year (MY) 2025/26 as production decreases and strict export permit procedures continue to stymie shipments.

Wheat production in MY 2025/2026 (July-June) is forecast at 217,000 metric tons (MT), reflecting a slight increase compared to the previous year's estimate. Wheat imports in MY 2025/2026 are forecast at 2.2 MMT.

FAS Dar es Salaam anticipates corn production will decline 6 percent in marketing year (MY) 2024/25 as farmers switch to alternative crops due to low corn prices. Peruvian wheat production in MY 2022/2023 is forecast at 220,000 MT. Wheat imports in MY 2022/2023 are forecast at 2.25 MMT. Corn production in MY 2022/2023 is forecast at 1.7 MMT.

MY 2021/22 wheat production is expected to decrease by 22.2 percent to 70,000 MT, while consumption is projected to increase by 2.9 percent to 1.2 million MT.
