Saudi Arabia: Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards - Certification

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

This FAIRS Certificates Report lists major export certificates required by Saudi Arabia’s regulatory and import control agencies for the importation of food and agricultural product into the Kingdom. This year, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) issued certification requirements for Novel Foods, which are outlined in this report. Currently, there is no U.S. beef export certificate approved for Saudi Arabia. This is due to a Saudi ban imposed on U.S. beef exports in May 2012, following the discovery of a BSE case in dairy cattle in California. SFDA and USDA continued negotiations to reach an agreement to remove the import ban on U.S. beef exports and establish the certification requirements.
