Pakistan: Grain and Feed Update

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Pakistan’s MY 2019/20 wheat production and export forecast is unchanged at 24.1 MMT and 0.5 MMT respectively. The Government of Pakistan has set the wheat production target at a 27 million metric tons (MMT) for the 2019 Rabi (winter) crop that will be harvested in April and May of 2020. Wheat area is not expected to change significantly from a year ago. Pakistan exported a record 4.5 MMT of rice during the MY 18/19 as compared to around 4 MMT during the corresponding period last year. The continuing devaluation of the Pakistani rupee against the dollar is helping to maintain the export momentum.
