Post estimates marketing year (MY) 2019/20 cotton production at 29.7 million 480 lb. bales (38 million 170-kilogram bales/6.4 MMT) with a planting area of 13 million hectares. The pace of new crop arrivals has picked up, but government procurement remains subdued. Raw cotton exports remain low, supported by exports of cotton yarn and fabric.

On March 27, 2025, The People’s Republic of China National Health Commission (NHC) and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) jointly released the National Food Safety Standard Code of Hygienic Practice for Livestock and Poultry Edible Offal and By-Products (GB 31616-2025).
