Coastal West Africa’s Ghana shows signs of possibilities for expanding imports of halal certified food and agricultural products. It evidences promise thanks to the increasing number of halal product consumers in country and in the region. While halal certification is not currently required by the Ghanaian government and its regulatory agencies, Ghanaian Muslim organizations and third-country certifiers are strengthening capabilities and promoting certification. With a sizeable, growing Muslim community already present, there is potential further expansion over time.
