China: State Council Publishes Key Tasks on Food Safety Work for 2017

On April 6, 2017, the State Council published the annual Key Tasks regarding Food Safety Work of 2017. The relevant Chinese Ministries/Departments under the State Council use this document as a reference to guide their food safety work during the year. Key tasks include improving food safety standards, cleaning the agricultural production environment, reinforcing the governance over crop and livestock production, upgrading the food industry, and establishing a unified and authoritative food safety oversight system. This report contains an executive summary of the key issues that may affect food and agricultural trade, and an un-official translation of the full text of the State Council notice.
