China: PRC National Strategy on Climate Adaption Offers More of the Same for Agriculture

On June 7, 2022, PRC departments, including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly issued the “National Strategy on Climate Change Adaptation 2035,” outlining broad plans for climate change adaptation through 2035. The agriculture and food security components rehash themes from the PRC’s 2013 climate adaptation strategy, including the role of technology in promoting plant and animal resilience, land utilization, risk management, and international cooperation.
