China: China Releases Food Conservation and Food Waste Reduction Action Plan

In November 2024, China released Action Plan on Food Conservation and Anti-Food Waste to reduce food loss and waste in grain production, storage, transportation and processing while significantly reducing food waste in HRI sector as well. The goals are for the loss rate of grains to be below the international average, to set up a long-term mechanism for grain and food waste reduction with continuous improvements in data collecting, and to establish standards and an indicator framework by 2027.
