Australia: Oilseeds and Products Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   AS2025-0007
Australian oilseed production, dominated by canola, is expected to be strong for the fifth consecutive season during the marketing year (MY) 2025/26. Canola production of 6.15 million metric tons (MMT) would be 3.5 percent above the previous year’s estimate and Australia’s third-largest canola crop. The growth is due to slight increases in harvest area and yield. Canola exports are forecast to decline by four percent to 4.65 MMT after an 18 percent growth in the expected crush volume of 1.3 MMT. Canola oil exports are forecast to grow by 26 percent to 290,000 metric tons (MT), the highest on record. Olive oil production is forecast to decline to 22,000 MT, mainly because of a natural biennial effect on yield. Cottonseed production is forecast to decline substantially to 1.08 MMT due to expectations of lower irrigation water availability and low cotton prices. Cottonseed exports are forecast to fall by 43 percent to 400,000 MT. The cottonseed crush is forecast to rise but remains small at 50,000 MT.
